Crazy Money! Nun Steals $$$ From School

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Do you know what to do when you face temptation? Some people don’t. They compromise, think they’re smart, then suffer the consequences. This summer, a retired nun admitted to taking money from a Catholic school in California. While serving as principal at the school, she was given the responsibility of handling tuition fees and donations. Over a ten-year period, she took money for personal use, then covered it up with falsified reports. Want to guess how much money she stole? More than $800,000! Now, what would a nun do with that much money? Give it to the cold, the sick, and the hungry? No. She used school money to cover her casino gambling habit and credit card charges on the school’s account. The nun pleaded guilty to wire fraud and money laundering. It could land her in federal prison for 40 years.

There’s a very important lesson here. When you go your own way, be warned, “your sin will find you out”. No matter the temptation to do something you know is wrong or to cover it up with more wrongdoing, God can give you the strength to say “No”. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says: “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” The next time you face temptation, turn and run to Jesus! He’ll show you the way to freedom without lying or cheating.
