Crazy Money! Hope in God – Not Money

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Simone Biles, is the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history. She credits God and her faith for her success. Forbes reports that she earned over $7 million in 2023. However, only $100,000 of that came from athletic competitions. The rest came from her endorsements. Simone earned $137,000 at the Paris Olympics for winning 4 medals. Some estimate that her net worth is at least $20 million. Did I mention that she’s only 27 years old? That’s crazy!

In 1 Timothy 4: 7-9, the Apostle Paul told us, Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance.” He continued in Chapter 6, saying, Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” (1 Timothy 6:17-19) May each of us, including Simone, put all of our hope in God!
