Crazy Money! He Turned Cast Iron Into $$$
It’s Crazy Money Day!
In 1925, a factory in France began producing cookware. The colorful enameled cast iron became known for its quality, but in the 1980’s, the company experienced heavy debt and family infighting. A businessman, born on a farm in South Africa, purchased it. Paul Van Zuydam saw potential despite the financial issues. He didn’t cut corners or chase short-term gains, but focused on preserving quality. He invested in design, broadened product lines, and leaned into the brand’s bold colors and timeless forms. He competed on durability, beauty, and legacy.
Under his leadership, the company expanded globally. Today, Le Creuset is considered one of the most iconic cookware brands in the world. Every imperfect piece is melted down and recast. Every pot is still hand-finished. The struggling company became a business generating over $850 million in annual revenue. At 87, van Zuydam still shows up to work every day as president of the company.
Our world is obsessed with fast exits and quick returns. Real wealth, the kind that compounds into something extraordinary, is almost always built slowly, deliberately, and with high standards. That reflects a key biblical principle. Stewardship is not about quick gain, but faithful multiplication over time. Whether leading a company, managing a household, or handling personal finances, the call is the same: be faithful with what you’ve been given.
