Crazy Money! Esquire’s Best-Dressed Grammy Nominees

It’s Crazy Money Day!

A recent Grammy nominee that I know needed something to wear to the award ceremony. Two days before, he contacted a friend who said, “Just go to my Dad’s shop. He’ll find you a great suit.”

“Well, how much will that cost?” he asked.

“Oh, 5 to 10 thousand dollars.”

Refusing to spend that kind of money, he went to the mall and found a suit that fit perfectly for 60% off. In the midst of torrential rains, he showed up in L.A. with his new suit, 10-year-old boots, a Stetson hat, and a vintage bolo tie. Out of all the nominees, Esquire Magazine named him one of the best-dressed men at the Grammys! That’s crazy!

This creative musician was so focused on working, that he didn’t have time to think about what to wear. It reminds me of what Jesus said in Matthew 6. … why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They don’t labor or spin. Not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—oh you of little faith? So don’t worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ ‘What shall we drink?’ ‘What shall we wear?’ …your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Isn’t that amazing? God will adorn each of us.
