Crazy Money! Bible Worth More Than Rare Sculpture
It’s Crazy Money Day!
We have a piano and keep a variety of different things on top of it. Evidently so do many others. A family from central France displayed a sculpture on top of their piano alongside their family photos. They thought it was a copy of one by artist Auguste Rodin, who died in 1917. Can you imagine their surprise when it sold for nearly a million dollars at auction? It’s a marble piece of a female figure sitting on a rock, holding one foot with her knee hugged to her chest. Measuring around 11 x 6 x 10 inches, this small work was sculpted in the late 1800s. It was originally part of an incredible group of 200 figures that Rodin left to a museum in Paris before his death. This discovery, in a private collection, was quite rare.
Now, if you own the Word of God, it’s of far greater value than any work of art. Do you treasure it in your heart? King David’s Psalm 19 declares that the law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees are firm and righteous. They’re more precious than gold, sweeter than honey, and there’s great reward in keeping them. So, appreciate the creative genius in artists, but treasure God’s Word more than anything else. Learn it, love it, and live by it!
