Crazy Money! $100 Million Gift to Athletes

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Billionaire Ross Stevens donated $100 million to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation. Each official competitor will receive $200,000 for the Olympics in which they compete. It’s for all, even those who don’t earn a medal! Money is paid out in 2 steps. $100,000 arrives at age 45 or 20 years after their first qualifying Olympic appearance, whichever comes later. Then $100,000 is in life insurance for the athlete’s chosen beneficiaries at death. Benefits accumulate. So, an athlete who performs in 3 Olympic Games would receive $600,000.

You see, half of the U.S. athletes earn less than $50,000 a year and devote many hours and dollars to their training. Many live paycheck to paycheck. How about you? I’ve seen reports that an estimated 60% of Americans do the same. The strain of this lifestyle is not how God created us to live. Counting down days until the next paycheck means money is in control of your life. God gave each of us the responsibility to wisely handle everything that He provides.

Upon receiving a paycheck, give to God first. Then, save. Then pay your bills and spend wisely. Get your priorities in order, and you’ll soon develop healthy habits. Now, don’t worry about starting small. Just get started! That’s how athletes make it to the Olympic Games!

We’re excited to invite you to join us in Knoxville, Tennessee, this September 10th through the 13th. We’re celebrating all that God has done through Crown over the last 50 years. Learn more at crown.org/50years.
