Birds of Prey in Weddings

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Did you know you can hire a bird of prey to be the ring-bearer for your wedding? You can pay $1200 for a specially trained raptor to deliver your rings. They do recommend providing fake rings just in case. That’s crazy. A wedding is a sacred ceremony before God, family, and friends. Many brides feel pressured to have a wedding worthy of a million social media likes. I encourage engaged couples to have a debt-free wedding that’s simple but sacred.

The wedding industry is big business and couples need to guard against popular trends and fashion. Engaged couples should not take on wedding debt. That will only add stress in the weeks, months, and even years following the ceremony. Instead, remember that a wedding is only a one-day event. Don’t allow the world to dictate your plans. Make a budget and stick to it. When Jesus told a crowd to consider the cost of discipleship in Luke 14, He gave an illustration: “For which of you desiring to build a tower does not first sit down and count the cost, whether there is enough to complete it?” Total your costs, and ask friends to help you with the event. Two people borrowed my wife’s wedding dress: one was a college roommate, and the second one was one of my cousins. God is more than able to provide what you need and sometimes what you want. Focus your time, energy, and finances on becoming a Godly couple not on current fads like raptor ring-bearers.
