Back-to-School Shopping

Back-to-school shopping can be costly, both financially and emotionally. Children feel peer pressure to have the “right” stuff and that influences us as parents.

The writer of Hebrews said, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have…”’

Teach this truth in love to your children and it’ll give them a better appreciation of what you can buy them.

But school supplies aren’t cheap! You’ve got to be a smart and savvy shopper so you don’t break the bank before school even starts.

Start at home by gathering unused items, or recycling things from previous years. You may be surprised at what you already have!

Then make your shopping list, set a budget, and pray.

Give yourself plenty of time, so you can look for sales.

Scour the shelves to see what’s marked down, and stock up when you find a good deal.

Use your social networks to help you find great deals … and make sure to share when you find one. Parents need to support one another!

Use this as an opportunity to demonstrate of the differences between wants and needs for your children.

Praise God and celebrate what He provides. May the pressure be supernaturally turned into blessing!
