Avoiding Christmas Depression

It seemed like all Shawn’s kids would talk about – for weeks – were the presents their friends were getting for Christmas. Shawn started to wonder what these kids’ parents must do for a living, because he certainly couldn’t afford to buy his kids the same kinds of gifts!

It’s hard trying to live up to your kids’ expectations at Christmas. But Shawn prayed and sensed that God gave him a good idea.

He decided to read aloud through the Biblical accounts of the Christmas story with the family, and – slowly – his attitude, and his kids’ attitudes began to change.

He made a budget, saved a little extra, and was able to buy the children great gifts that didn’t stretch their family finances – which was honoring to God and did not disappoint his kids.
