Are You Trapped in Pride?

Are you suffering because of pride?

Pride often leads to financial failure. You can avoid that by humbling yourself and asking for help. Too often, Christians are not accountable to anyone. Consequently, they have little or no feedback from those who recognize the symptoms associated with pride. First and foremost, a husband and wife must be accountable to one another. Major decisions should be discussed together. Opinions and insights should be exchanged and welcomed. If a wife has the liberty to be honest, she will usually detect and expose her spouse’s pride and vice versa. Christians in business should be accountable to peers or people they respect who will speak with complete honesty. It helps if they’re faithfully studying God’s Word and seeking to serve the Lord for this to work well. Meeting regularly will expose pride and weaknesses. Correction must be honest and based on the Truth found in the Bible. Whoever points out problems should share wisdom from personal experience. Encourage repentance and new habits to develop character and humility. This can affect someone’s entire life, their marriage, and business.

King Solomon addressed pride multiple times in Proverbs.

• When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. (11:2)

• Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. (13:10)

• Before a downfall, the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. (18:12)

• Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor. (29:23)

So don’t stay trapped in pride. Let the Lord set you free.
