A Life of Faith
Are you familiar with the life of Corrie ten Boom?
Corrie ten Boom’s example of biblical stewardship didn’t come from wealth or abundance. It came from a life of faith. Corrie and her family lived through unimaginable hardship during World War II. They lost their home, their business, and their freedom. Her Dad, sister, and many loved ones lost their lives. Yet through it all, Corrie said something we can apply to our lives today: “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
Corrie discovered that security doesn’t come from what we own, but from whom we trust. When everything was taken from her, she learned that God is faithful even when resources disappear. That financial principle is repeated throughout Scripture. God is the ultimate provider of all that we have. Corrie knew to hold possessions loosely. Clinging tightly to anything God provides increases our fear of losing it.
Biblical stewardship isn’t about how much we have. It’s about faithfulness with what we’ve been given. Corrie demonstrated that gratitude, generosity, trust, and obedience don’t depend on prosperity. They depend on faith in our faithful Lord. Financial freedom begins when we stop seeking security in money and start really trusting God.
Corrie ten Boom lost nearly everything. Her faith and obedience during trials still impacts people through her book The Hiding Place. Trusting our trustworthy God can guide us today, no matter how challenging our financial circumstances may be.
