$11 an Hour Millionaire
Do you dream of having a million dollars in the bank?
One of my favorite stories of stewardship is about a man named Paul Navone. He started working when he was 16 years old, and throughout his entire life, never worked a job that paid more than $11 an hour. He was not a miser but he lived a simple, quiet life with no need for expensive cars, vacations, or entertainment. He loved people and was always kind. Through some wise savings and investing strategies, he accumulated much more than a million dollars by the time he retired and was radically generous towards others!
Now you don’t have to have a huge salary to leave an impactful legacy, but you do have to be faithful with what you have. In one parable, Jesus told how faithful stewards would hear the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:23) You see if you steward faithfully, you’ll hear those words too! God notices our faithfulness and honors us for it. To be entrusted with more of anything, you must be faithful with what you have now! You may not end up with a million dollars, but you’ll have the peace that comes with believing God’s Word.
Crown’s founder, Larry Burkett, liked to say, “Most of what God gives you in life is not for you.” We’re to use it as He directs! You’ll never have extra money if you spend it all on yourself. So this year, learn to live on less so you can give, save, and invest as the Lord leads you.
