What Will Heaven Be Like?
by Larry Burkett

Shortly after Senator Harold Hughes became a Christian someone asked him, “Senator Hughes, what do you think is the advantage of being a Christian?” They thought he would say, “Well, God will make me the next president of the United States.” But he didn’t say that.

Senator Hughes replied, “The advantage of being a Christian is that this life is all of Hell I shall ever experience. The disadvantage of being an unbeliever is that this life is all the Heaven some people will ever know.”

I guess everybody has their own idea of what Heaven will be like. We are told in Revelation that God is going to bring New Jerusalem down out of Heaven—a city made of jasper, gold, onyx, and other precious stones, and the streets will be transparent gold. The city will be a 1500-mile cube.

God said there will be a new Heaven and a new Earth, and that’s where His people will be. I’m looking forward to it, aren’t you?

I don’t care if I’m a street sweeper in Heaven. After all, the streets are made of gold!

The best part of Heaven is that we will be in the presence of God. And, there will be no more pain, fear, suffering, sickness, or sorrow, as well as no cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, overweight, gray hair, or wrinkles, so why wouldn’t we look forward to getting to Heaven?

What are you looking forward to?
