People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction

Is Greed Acceptable?
by Larry Burkett

Greed has become such an accepted attitude that most major advertisements for luxury products are built around it. Many committed believers are convinced (often by other believers) that it is God’s absolute responsibility to make them wealthy and successful.

Just to help Him out (in case God neglects His responsibility), they are willing to borrow large amounts of money to invest in get-rich-quick schemes, abandon their families to provide the good life for them, and rob God of His tithes and offerings. Then they rationalize their behavior under the guise of doing what they have to do to succeed.

God does have a plan for success, and although it is unique for each individual it is common in three ways.

God never provides success at the expense of serving Him first.

God never provides success at the expense of our peace.

God never provides success at the expense of the family.

Albert Einstein said, “It is high time that the ideal of success should be replaced by the ideal of service.”
