GIF Haste Makes Waste

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.”

Haste Makes Waste
by Larry Burkett

Bill and Jayne were seminar sponsors for their city. Bill, as usual, took little interest and left the preparation to Jayne. However, in addition to coordinating the seminar, Jayne also had her family obligations, which often caused her to make last-minute plans. They were habitually late and Bill continually remarked about Jayne’s poor planning.

Some people seem to constantly have emergencies or are always in a frantic rush to get things done. This is the result of failing to plan, which indicates something important: Usually there’s a failure to pray.

If Bill and Jayne had recognized the principle of stewardship, they would have realized that Jesus is Lord and that we are His stewards. And, as His stewards, we should seek His direction through prayer.

When we think of being good stewards, often we think only of how we use our money. But being good stewards involves far more than money; we are to be good stewards of our time.

Prayer is the instrument for planning. If we will start the day with prayer and then spend more time in prayer throughout the day, there will be better planning, and proper planning will eliminate most emergencies and haste.

Ask the Lord to reveal to you how you can be a better steward of your time. If you already have that under control, pray for someone else you know who has more than he or she can handle.
