“They are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excess of dissipation, and they malign you; but they shall give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”

(1 Peter 4:4-5)

This principle is easier to talk about than to live. The teaching is very clear in the lives of those whom God has chosen to use throughout the Bible.

The more success you have in your service for God, the greater the potential for ego and self-centeredness. Thus, the greater the necessity for you to maintain a “God-first” spirit. The process of being molded into Christ’s image must be continual.

Clearly, the purpose of being totally dependent on God is so you will be divorced from a marriage to this world and all it has to offer.

The world has its way of doing things; but, as a Christian, you should have an entirely different agenda.

Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed. . . that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).

John wrote that the world is passing away, “but the one who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:17).
