Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. . . . The one who does the will of God abides forever.’

Compromise
by Larry Burkett

Few Christians willfully violate the Ten Commandments. Most appear to be basically moral. But what about inward doubts, temptations, and failures? Are these sins?

Compared to overt sins (like lying or stealing), compromises don’t seem so bad. If God were merely an accountant, weighing good against bad and one person against another, there would be no problem.

However, God deals in absolutes, not comparisons. His Word is straightforward and any compromises of what it says are usually just symptoms of spiritual problems.

J.R. Lowell said, “Compromise makes a good umbrella, but a poor roof; it is a temporary expedient.”

As an individual, you are responsible and accountable for your own actions, regardless of what others do.

Dear Lord, forgive me if I’m guilty of compromising anything in Your Word and help me make the changes in my life that are needed.
