GIF Caring About Each Other

Whoever has the world’s goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? . . .Let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.”

(1 John 3:17-18)

Caring About Each Other
by Larry Burkett

God is in control. If we are serving Him, nothing can befall us unless He allows it. It will rarely seem beneficial at the time, but if we believe God’s Word we must believe He will ultimately receive the glory.

One important aspect of living for the Lord is to love and care about each other. When Christians are suffering from a financial disaster, the last thing they need is an accusation: “Well, she wasn’t very careful with her money.” or “He could have gotten a better job if he had really tried.” or “Have you seen the car they drive?”

In fact, when people need help, they need your help. You must show compassion during their time of testing, and God’s Word admonishes us to show our love with deeds.

Whatever you have is not intended solely for your personal enjoyment. God intends for you to give to others the way He has given to you—in love. What if God with held blessings from you because you had made unwise decisions or had been careless?

People usually make their decisions based on whatever information or motivation they have at the time. It’s not for us to judge their behavior. Rather, we are to care enough to help, knowing that some day we might be on the receiving end.
