Abortion’s Spiritual Impact
by Larry Burkett

Obviously abortion is an abomination before the Lord. In my mind, there’s no difference between aborting babies and forcing children to walk through fire that consumes them. The only difference is that one is alive in the womb; the other is alive outside the womb.

When the sanctity of life is ignored and the most helpless are killed, it reduces society to the level of animals.

To allow people to believe that the unborn is not really a human being is a lie. God said that He formed us—our innermost, hidden parts—even while we were in the womb.

Until we are willing to stand up as a people and eliminate abortion, I believe the spiritual character of our nation will continue to degrade.

Some Christians are secret abortionists. Although they profess that they are pro-life, in their hearts they believe that abortion does benefit society by getting rid of the poor, the nonproductive, and the handicapped, because it reduces the burden on all of society. To harbor these thoughts is to be an abortionist, because God’s Word says that as you think in your heart, that’s who you are.

All fetuses should have a chance at life. The psalmist said, “Children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3).
