Crazy Money! Thieves and Their Selfies
It’s Crazy Money Day!
A crime recently occurred near Napa Valley, California. Tools, copper wire, and vehicles were stolen from a business. Police were called, and Fox News reported that investigators identified two vehicles associated with the burglary. After neighboring law enforcement agencies were notified, two men were stopped and detained in their vehicles. Evidence recovered during the investigation included selfies taken while committing the crime, and I‘m not kidding! A search warrant later recovered some of the stolen property. I can hear Jeff Foxworthy saying something like, “You might be a ‘fool’ if you take selfies while committing burglary.”
The Apostle Paul had wiser words in Ephesians 4:28: “Anyone who’s been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.” God created us in His image, and work is a part of His design for our lives. Before sin entered the world, God placed Adam in the garden “to work and take care of it.” Work is not a punishment. We reflect our Creator when we’re producing, solving problems, and caring for what He’s entrusted to us.
Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” Work provides for our needs, allows us to serve others, and offers opportunities to glorify God. The challenges we encounter shape our character and draw us closer to the Lord.
