Crazy Money! Lepers Discovered a Fortune!

It’s Crazy Money Day! 

The story of four lepers in 2 Kings 7 offers surprising lessons about money, stewardship, and God’s provision. The city of Samaria was in the middle of a devastating famine. Food was scarce, hope was gone, and people were desperate. Meanwhile, four lepers sat outside the city gates facing an impossible choice. If they stayed where they were, they would die. If they entered the city, they would die. They decided to take a risk and go to the enemy camp. What they discovered changed everything. God miraculously caused the Aramean army to flee, leaving behind food, silver, gold, clothing, and supplies. The 4 lepers suddenly found themselves surrounded by abundance. At first, they ate, collected valuables, and hid treasure for themselves, but then they stopped and said something remarkable: “We’re not doing right. This is a day of good news, and we’re keeping it to ourselves.” (2 Kings 7:9)

Their conviction is a stewardship lesson. God’s blessings aren’t meant to stop with us. They’re to flow through us. Even the lepers recognized that abundance carried responsibility. They needed to share this good news. The lepers remind us that faith sometimes requires action. They moved forward despite uncertainty, and God met them there. Often, provision is discovered by taking faithful steps and trusting the Lord with the outcome. What we find can make a difference to our family, church, and community.
