Living for God

We’re all living for something.

The question is, are we living for ourselves, for others, or for God? Many people spend their lives pursuing personal comfort, success, and fulfillment. Decisions revolve around what they want, what they can achieve, and what they can accumulate. It’s an easy way to live because our natural tendency is to put ourselves first. Others dedicate their lives to serving family, friends, and their communities. While that’s noble and admirable, living for others can become exhausting unless it’s rooted in something deeper.

Scripture points us to a higher calling. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Making God our highest priority brings clarity to all of life. When God’s at the center, we see time, talents, relationships, and finances as gifts that He’s entrusted to us for His purposes. The Apostle Paul said in Galatians 2:20, “I’ve been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” That’s a radical shift. It means our lives are no longer primarily about our plans, our ambitions, or even our reputation. They belong to the Lord.

So, what drives your decisions? What shapes your priorities? What motivates your use of money, time, and energy? Your answers will reveal who you’re truly living for. Choosing to live for Christ aligns us with the purpose, peace, and fulfillment for which we were created.
