Your Financial Biography

Financial decisions reveal our priorities.

If someone were to write your financial biography, what would they learn? I don’t mean how much money you earned or what you’ve accumulated. I’m talking about the story your financial decisions tell about your heart. Would it be a story of generosity or consumption? Contentment or constant striving? Stewardship or ownership?

Financial decisions are a part of our life story. The way in which we spend, save, give, and invest reveals what we truly believe. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21) In other words, our money often tells the story of what matters most to us. Perhaps your biography would include seasons of hardship, mistakes, and financial setbacks. Most people have those chapters, but it might also reveal God’s faithfulness, lessons learned, and moments when you chose obedience over convenience. Maybe it would tell of sacrifices made to provide for your family. Maybe it would highlight generosity toward someone in need. Maybe it would recount a time when you trusted the Lord despite uncertainty.

At the end of our lives, few people will be remembered for the size of their bank accounts, but many will be remembered for their character, their faithfulness, and the impact they made on others. Every dollar is an opportunity to write another line about trusting the Lord. So, if someone read the story of your financial life, what would they learn about your priorities?
