Our actions reveal our true beliefs.

George MacDonald once wrote, “Faith in its simplest, truest, mightiest form is to do His will.” Now, that’s a powerful statement because it reminds us that faith is more than belief. It’s obedience. MacDonald saw faith and obedience as two sides of the same coin. They’re inseparable.

James, the brother of Christ, wrote that faith without works is dead. Genuine faith always moves us to action. It changes how we live, how we treat others, and even how we handle our money. Biblical stewardship is an expression of faith. Our financial decisions reveal whether we really trust God. When we give generously, we believe the Lord will provide. When we save wisely, we’re exercising diligence and planning. When we avoid debt or choose contentment over impulse spending, we’re obeying God’s principles instead of giving in to worldly pressure.

Faith isn’t proven when we agree with God’s Word. It’s proven when we act on it. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commands.” Obedience is our response to God’s love. The same is true in stewardship. We don’t manage God’s resources faithfully because we have to. We do it because we trust Him. We believe His ways are better than our own. So perhaps the question is not, “Do I have faith?” The better question is, “Am I acting on what I say I believe?” Because faith, in its simplest, strongest form, is still what MacDonald said it was: Doing the will of God.
