AI is Redistributing Work

AI is reshaping the economy.

AI is changing the world in unexpected ways. It’s automating tasks that are repetitive, predictable, and digital. It does them faster and cheaper than humanly possible. That can feel unsettling, but we must realize that something else is happening. As technology expands, so does the need for people who can build, install, repair, and maintain the physical world around us. Electricians, HVAC technicians, mechanics, plumbers, and carpenters are becoming more valuable. AI is improving how we process information, but it can’t fix a broken pipe, wire a building, or solve real-world problems that require human judgment and skill.

So, what does that mean for us? First, work is shifting. It’s not disappearing like “doom and gloomers” want us to believe. Opportunities are moving away from routine tasks toward skilled, adaptable work. People who are willing to learn and grow will continue to find opportunity. Scripture reminds us in Colossians 3:23 to work heartily, as for the Lord. Whether you’re behind a computer or working with your hands, your work matters to God. Instead of fearing change, ask yourself: “How can I grow? Where can I add value? What gifts and talents has God equipped me with to use in this new season?” AI may reshape the economy, but it cannot replace character, wisdom, or a willing heart.
