Accountability Affects Financial Choices
Every financial decision is a spiritual decision.
According to Second Corinthians 5:10, “…we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” Now, that’s sobering! One day, we’ll give an account to God, not just for our words or actions, but for how we stewarded everything He entrusted to us, including money.
Scripture teaches that God owns everything. We’re His managers, not the owners, and managers are held accountable. Knowing that changes how we view spending. It changes how we view debt. It changes how we view generosity and how we view investing. If I know that one day I have to give an account, I’ll ask very different questions today. Instead of “Can I afford this?” or “What do I want?” I should be asking, “Will this decision be honoring to the Lord ?”
The judgment seat of Christ isn’t about fear for believers. It’s about faithfulness. It’s about rewards for obedience. Did we use the resources God entrusted to us to advance His Kingdom? Did we care for our families? Did we give generously? Did we handle money with absolute integrity? Every paycheck is an opportunity. Every financial decision is a small act of stewardship. One day, we will stand before the Lord. The goal won’t be to have created wealth. It will be to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Let future accountability shape today’s financial choices.
