Crazy Money! How Brock Purdy Handles Money

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Quarterback Brock Purdy was the last pick of the NFL Draft 4 years ago. As a rookie, he earned just under $800,000 with the San Francisco 49ers. Last May, he signed a contract for more than $41 million. He wants to use that money for good. Purdy told Fox News Digital that the first couple of years allowed him to ease into his role. He had roommates, then got married, and slowly started playing more. He added, “I’ve had some really good people in my life to remind me of keeping life simple, not buying into the flashy kind of lifestyle or anything, and just keeping my life simple so that I can go out in the field and do what I’ve always done and play ball, keep my mind clear. So, it’s been a good transition, but I want to use my role and platform to love people, serve people, and, you know, not just crave it all for myself kind of thing.”

When the 49ers came from behind to win the 2024 NFC Championship, Purdy said he’d never been the biggest, fastest, or strongest. He knew God gave him opportunities. He puts his faith in Him and declares that in winning or losing, he will glorify God. He told another interviewer, “My identity is with Jesus, and I’m going to roll with that. I just want to be able to witness and defend the Christian faith as best I can…”

I’d say he’s done that well! Stories like Brock Purdy’s remind us that money is never the goal. It’s a tool, and when it’s surrendered to God, it can be used to serve others and bring Him glory.
