Crazy Money! Luxury Eyewear

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Ethiopia is located in the Horn of Africa, just north of the equator. I traveled there last year to spend time at a refugee camp. I learned that they really need sunglasses. UVR exposure increases for those living near the equator, at higher altitudes, and around highly reflective surfaces. Prolonged exposure causes serious ocular complications. They don’t need designer sunglasses, just quality UVR protection.

Elsewhere, glasses have become symbols of status and style. Established brands command high prices due to their reputation and exclusivity. Luxury eyewear is made with expensive materials like gold, platinum, and rare gemstones that showcase exceptional craftsmanship and design. Master artisans spend hundreds of hours on intricate designs and high-quality finishes. The most expensive eyeglasses in the world cost approximately $400,000.These eyeglasses are not just functional. They’re considered wearable art, appealing to those who appreciate luxury and craftsmanship. I think that’s crazy. I appreciate fine craftsmanship, but I’ll stick with my $30 pair that work just fine.

The Apostle Paul told us to “…fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18) We can wisely steward our resources by keeping our focus on Him and helping those who really need a pair of sunglasses. Think about that the next time you put yours on.
