Children of God

Your relationship with the Lord is priceless!

As we fight against the rampant materialism in our society, the serious danger our world is in becomes more obvious to me daily. The goal of our lives, according to society, is to get rich or at least to live like we are. Without a doubt, even the poor in our country would be considered impoverished when compared to other countries, and yet, there are children in the United States who will go to bed hungry tonight.

I believe that the materialism and monetary poverty in this country are symptoms of a greater problem: emotional and spiritual poverty. As a culture, we’re searching for significance and security. So, we put a high value on having stuff, on making lots of money, and getting all that we can, but this should not be. Christians have significance from simply being children of God, co-heirs with Christ, the Son of God! In John 17:21, Jesus prayed these words, “That they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe.”

We’re blessed to be God’s children! He wants us to serve Him by loving those around us. We reveal His nature to them by the way we live our lives. Our security comes from knowing that God loves us, not from our income or the amount of money we have in the bank. Our significance comes from simply being His child.
