Crazy Money! New Lego Set

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Are LEGOS on your Christmas list? The company released their Ultimate Collector Series. It’s a Star Wars fully armed and operational battle station. The 9,000-piece set might give parents nightmares of stepping on pieces in the dark or vacuuming up Darth Vader. The price tag’s an incentive to keep it away from pets who might scatter crucial parts or swallow key pieces. It’s large in size and price. $999! Now, that’s a lot of money and a lot of LEGOS when sets and blocks are available at yard sales or consignment stores.

One day, my wife dumped our boys’ sets that were missing pieces into a large plastic bin. This motivated them to create their own designs, which kept them occupied for hours. I believe in challenging creativity in our children. Rather than allowing them to mindlessly sit in front of screens watching the world go by, why not engage them in it? Take them outdoors to experience the wonder of the real world that God made, or encourage a creative skill that you see in them.

My friend, Mako Fujimura, is an artist and author. In his book, Art & Faith, he wrote, “The Bible is full of ‘making’ activities. I have come to believe that unless we’re making something, we cannot know the depth of God’s being…God moves in our hearts to be experienced and then makes us all to be artists of the Kingdom.” Steward your time and money wisely by making something wonderful!
