Stop Making Excuses
Making excuses will always hinder your financial progress.
I’ve heard a lot of excuses through the years! Here are a few big ones:
“I don’t make enough money.” Well, that may be true, but it’s not about how much you make, but how much you spend. You can’t give, save, or invest if you don’t make those a priority. Track your spending to discover non-essential expenditures. Then, build a budget to help you keep track of where your money should go.
Another excuse? “I don’t have time.” Well, we all make time for what’s important to us. You can’t achieve short or long-term financial goals without planning. Start by spending 30 minutes a week tracking your spending for insight into your habits. Then create a budget. We have an easy one on our website.
Another excuse? “It’s too complicated.” Well, thankfully, you don’t need a finance degree to learn Biblical financial principles. The Holy Spirit will teach anyone who wants to learn. It boils down to a basic understanding of managing whatever God provides. Educate yourself by reading articles on Crown’s website. Enroll in an online class, work with our budget coach, or join a Crown small group.
Focus on your ability to generate income and control your spending. Then, seek opportunities to increase your earning potential, and don’t be dismayed; God can strengthen you and help you if you’re willing to submit to Him. Stop making excuses and start taking ownership. Choose to implement Biblical financial principles and you’ll make meaningful progress.
