Testimony Tuesday – Faithful Despite Disability

It’s Testimony Tuesday!

Early in life, Elvis Mawele was a laborer on a commercial farm. He had a terrible accident that injured his leg. Eventually, it had to be amputated, and he received a prosthesis. Losing his leg and his job led to depression. He was unable to support his family and lost all hope for the future. Although he had a small vegetable garden, he needed help, knowledge, skills, and tools.

In 2019, his family was visited by a mission group that saw their physical and spiritual needs. They ministered to their spiritual needs and sponsored Mr. Mawele to attend a Foundations for Farming basic training course. He was very eager to apply the principles he had learned, but didn’t have the means to start. The gift of basic tools enabled him to increase the size of his garden to produce enough to feed his family. Foundations for Farming visited him monthly to support, give encouragement, and advise him as needed. He was so successful. He was able to expand his farm with maize.

For 4 years, Mr Mawele was mentored in the cultivation of vegetables and maize. He planned, kept records, and marketed the produce. He continues to improve standards and the quality of what he grows. Today, he’s able to sustain his family.

Mr Mawele applied all the principles he was taught through Foundations for Farming. These include working at standard, on time, without waste, and with joy. He faithfully stewards what the Lord provides. He has hope and a new life that blesses others.
