25-year-old Patrick Mahomes is the highest-paid player in the NFL. His 10-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs is worth more than $500 million. Mahomes, a gifted athlete, and believer can glorify God through football. His mother says his humility is a priority to her.

John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30) Greatness in God’s eyes comes from decreasing, not increasing. That’s how we fully become what we were created to be. Like Mahomes, we have unique talents and gifts tied to the purposes God wants to accomplish through us. May we all steward them well!
