Read, Know and Grow in Stewardship

Happy New Year!

Are you reading through your Bible this year? It’s one of the best investments you’ll make in 2023. There are different reading plans, but the important thing is to read the Bible cover to cover. The Apostle Paul told the Colossians: “Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:1-2) The easiest way to do that is to spend time with God and immerse yourself in His Word daily. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Do you want that? I certainly do, that’s why I read through the Bible each year, but what does the Bible reading have to do with money and finances? Well…A LOT!

Reading the Bible in a year keeps the eternal on the forefront of your mind. It transforms your thinking. Romans 12:2 says, “Don’t conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” God’s Word equips you to steward well. It helps you fight the schemes of the devil and grants access to the wisdom of your Provider. Thousands of principles apply to money and possessions and will give you insight to understand God’s best for your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you this year and devote yourself to knowing God.
