Know Any Lovers of Money?
D you know any lovers of money?
In 2 Timothy 3, the Apostle Paul wrote, “Mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power.” Do you see any signs of this today? If you’re convicted, can I challenge you to confess and repent? Life is short. Too short to miss the abundant life that Jesus came to give us. Now many people don’t have the hope and joy of walking with Christ. They seek their fulfillment in the world but are empty, frustrated, and hopeless. As Blaise Pascal said, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.”
People today are spending money they don’t even have in an effort to find happiness. They don’t know or understand Biblical financial principles. When God gives us opportunities to share what we know, let’s reach out. People may notice that we spend money differently. Explain that we’re managing God’s money. Now that will start a conversation! Then move into why it’s beneficial to spend less than we earn, to work with excellence, to give, save, and invest wisely. We’ve been entrusted with principles that the world, the lovers of money, really need to know.
