Have You Made Mistakes With Money?

Have you made mistakes with money?

If you’ve made mistakes with money, ask God to redeem them. C. S. Lewis wrote, “Whatever you do, He will make good of it. But not the good He had prepared for you if you had obeyed Him. That is lost forever.” Well thankfully, God forgives our financial mistakes. Surrender your wallet to Him, confess your mismanagement of money, and ask Him to make His priorities yours. Take steps now to become a wise steward – one who’s actually good with money. Begin by recording all spending to establish a workable budget. Then set giving, saving, and debt repayment goals. You may need to adjust your lifestyle.

One of the biggest mistakes I’ve seen is the failure to make a plan. As a result, people often purchase too much house. They fail to add in the cost of everything that goes into home ownership. Another mistake is buying a new car. People assume they can make the monthly payments, but fail to budget for maintenance, repairs, insurance, and even parking. Did you know that most people owe more on a car that’s a year old than it’s actually worth? Failing to plan for emergencies is another costly mistake. They happen when we least expect them and can be very painful. If you’ve made mistakes, don’t despair. Make a plan and work as unto the Lord. Before long, you’ll be blessing others because of your financial goodness. Remember, it’s never too late! Look at your mistakes as lessons that God can use to humble you and mold you into His likeness.
