Be Encouraged! You Can Have a Debt Free Vacation
Are you ready for a spring break?
Are you tired of shoveling snow? Yearning for a summer vacation? We all need time to relax and recharge, but going into debt will only add to your stress! So be encouraged! You can vacation without overspending. Decide what you can really afford, then start a holiday savings account. This can be a fun activity for the whole family while building excitement for the future. Ask other families to join you and discover ways that you can cut expenses and save money. Avoid shopping malls and online shopping. Learn to become an expert at saving grocery money. For example, instead of ordering in pizza, make homemade nachos. Skip fast food purchases with simple meal prep. Have some “No-Spend” or “Eat the Pantry” weeks and deposit everything you don’t spend. Cutting your food expenses will quickly grow your vacation fund.
A real money saver involves a “staycation.” Take advantage of local activities that you’ve never explored before. Invite out of town friends or family to join you and multiply the fun and savings! The children will love it. If you really can’t afford a vacation, stop scrolling through social media. It’s easy to get caught up in the comparison trap and believing the lie that everyone has what you don’t. Instead, give thanks for all you have and the opportunities you can afford. So be encouraged, plan ahead, and let us know how it goes. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
