Avoid Compromising Devotion to Christ for Job Security
People do crazy things for job security.
Did you know that people falsify health reports so they can receive monthly disability income? They willingly sell their devotion to Christ for simple job security. Others sacrifice their time and energy to pursue financial security while neglecting to give anything to God who provided the job and the ability to work. Proverbs 30 gives the heart attitude needed to trust God as our Provider: “Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.”
Resolve never to lie! If you’re a child of God, guard your name – it’s a reflection of His. The reputation of an ambassador of Christ is worth more than riches and it’s esteemed better than silver or gold. You’ve been promised an inheritance far greater than anything the world can offer. “When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. It’s a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:13-14) So, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
