Chuck BentleyDo you have a “saving” lifestyle?  It doesn’t happen by accident.  Saving takes discipline.

Now that we’re deep in a recession, many Americans are looking for ways to cut expenses.  I think God’s people should lead the way in demonstrating a frugal lifestyle.

Now, sometimes being frugal just means “un-learning” bad habits.  So, here 3 ways you can save your energy bill.

  1. Reach for switch on your way out.  Get into the habit of turning off the light whenever you leave a room, even if you’re coming back in a few minutes—especially those lights with 4 or 5 bulbs in one fixture.  You can also use small, low-watt night lights in strategic locations so you can move around without turning on overhead lights.

  2. Plug your computer, TV and other entertainment equipment into a surge protector with an on/off switch and use it.  You can also set your computer to turn off the monitor after so many minutes of inactivity.

  3. Expand your comfort zone.  Set your thermostat a few degrees cooler in the winter and a few degrees warmer in the summer and dress accordingly.  Also, stop heating and cooling rooms that are rarely used.

Cutting expenses increases your financial margin and allows you to save money for the future and it’s always easier to save a dollar than to earn one.

Proverbs 6 tells us, Go to the ant, consider its ways and be wise!” With a little work, we can all be ants and develop a savings lifestyle.

The Plans of Tomorrow

Life is fragile. Consider where you are investing your time and energies.

Teaching God's People God's Principles

God calls each of us to fill the gap in order to spread His Gospel to all parts of the world.

Finances and Your Relationship with God

This generation’s greatest need is for God’s Word to be taught clearly and undiluted. The next greatest is for Christians to demonstrate that it works.

God and Money

Once we understand how God uses money and why He chooses to use it in a particular way, we can better understand His directives regarding finances.
