Chuck BentleyI’ve been telling you lately about the blessings of living in God’s economy and the fear and uncertainty that come from being trapped in man’s economy.

Today I want to talk about managing money in God’s economy because it’s completely different from what the world is probably telling you.

God’s economy is the divine integration of God’s lordship, our stewardship and our generosity.  So here’s how to manage money in God’s economy:

  1. Learn to live on less than you earn. The world will tell you to spend everything you have, so to live on less than you make, you’ll need a written plan. Go to Crown.org for help in setting up a budget.

  2. Monitor your progress. Track your spending daily, weekly, monthly, and annually to make sure you’re making progress.

  3. Control your use of credit. If you owe money, stop borrowing and use cash.  And know that God can get you out of debt faster than you may think is possible. Be sure and ask for His help.

  4. Get your housing costs under control.  If you have an adjustable rate mortgage, I recommend that you refinance as soon as possible to a fixed rate mortgage.

  5. Learn to save money. Saving breaks the addiction to credit. Start with saving $1,000 for emergencies, and then increase it every month.

  6. Finally, develop a plan for the surplus wealth. This surplus is for God’s Kingdom and will give you an opportunity to be generous.

Follow these steps and you’ll know the peace and contentment of God’s economy.

Prosper in a Declining Economy

We have compiled a list of things you can do to survive or thrive in our current economy.

Job Loss

Dealing with lay off is not pleasant, but look at the lay off as an opportunity that can be conquered.

God's Word for a Tough Economy

Today's economic climate makes it important for Christians to review and practice what God has been telling us all along.

Fearing the Future

The most effective method of finding a new job is through contacts—the people you already know or those who know the people you already know.
