Chuck BentleyYou don’t need college to be an entrepreneur, but if you want a degree as a foundation for starting your own business—some schools are definitely better than others.

In fact, Entrepreneur magazine has rated the top 25 colleges and business schools for undergraduate degrees.

The findings were based on the percentage of faculty who are entrepreneurs, the cost, and the student to instructor ratios.  Now, you might be surprised at the results.  Schools like Harvard, Princeton and Yale didn’t even make the list.

So here are the top 3 entrepreneurial schools in the country, counting down from #3:

  1. The University of Arizona, McGuire Entrepreneurship Program in Tucson is an elite program that has only 100 students. Eighty-four percent of the instructors are entrepreneurs and the school provides up to $20,000 in scholarships.
  1. The Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Houston.  Nineteen hundred students, 100% of the faculty are business owners, and the school offers up to $56,000 in scholarships.

And finally, the #1 college in America for teaching entrepreneurship:

  1. Babsom College.  That’s right.  The Arthur Blank Center for Entrepreneurship at Babsom College in Babsom Park, Massachusetts. It’s the #1 rated school for budding business owners. Its intense undergrad program actually requires that all students create their own start-up business.

Well, you can find the entire list at Entrepreneur.com.  And with the economy in recession, it’s good to know that our colleges are training the next generation of business owners.
