Chuck BentleyDon’t you think Thomas Jefferson was smiling, just a little, as he wrote the last sentence of the Declaration of Independence:

“…with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.”

Well, as you celebrate our nation’s independence tomorrow, I hope you’ll take just a moment to appreciate the irony of that document ending with a confession of absolute dependence—on God.

Our Founders knew something that sadly, too many Americans today have forgotten—that God is our Provider and He is our Protector and that all blessings flow from Him.  The signers of the Declaration of Independence knew that without God, they were doomed.

Liberty BellOur nation is faced with many challenges today and the only solution is to declare dependence on God.  So tomorrow, between the cookout and the fireworks, thank God for the freedom we continue to enjoy.

Pray that God gives our elected leaders wisdom so that they become better stewards of His resources, and recognize our utter dependence upon His grace for our continued liberty.

The Liberty Bell itself reminds us of our True Source of freedom.  Engraved there is Leviticus 25:10, “Proclaim Liberty throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants.”

So from all of us at MoneyLife, I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating our incredible independence and at the same time, remembering our total dependence.

Vocation and Income

The vast majority of people who make career decisions early in life are motivated by income expectations.

Borrowing for Education

If it is truly God’s will for individuals or their children to attend college, He will supply the funds.

What Sort of Home Should I Buy?

You may be sure of the kind of home you want now, but think about the future as you begin your search for a new or different home.

Owning vs. Renting

Obviously, if a family can afford to buy a home, this is by far one of the best investments available.
