Who are you working for these days? Well, many people are in financial bondage because of work. They’re either unemployed or a slave to their jobs, and they're miserable—they’re stuck or trapped in man’s economy.
Now, God never intended for it to be that way. In man’s economy, you work just for money, or to be successful in the eyes of the world, or simply so that you can retire from work.
But, people living in God’s economy have a totally different view. Did you know that God created work? Genesis 2:15 says: ”The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and to take care of it.”
So, God created work to satisfy us and to please Him. Ephesians 6:7 tells us who we’re working for: “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men.”
So how do you work unto the Lord?
- First, set a goal to be excellent in whatever you do, no matter what it is. Many people want to be excellent at something and enjoy the rewards of it but they don’t want to work hard to become excellent.
- Second, ask God to be with you at work to help you remember that you’re His employee. Seek to bring Him pleasure through all that you do. Every time you take on a task, ask the Lord how you can please Him.
- And third, as you work unto the Lord, put yourself in a position to become free from financial enslavement. That way you’ll be able to fulfill His purposes and not simply man’s purposes.
So I’ll ask you again: Who are you working for these days? I hope you understand clearly, that you and I work for the Lord.
