Lori Singleton-Clarke is a giant killer. Just as David took down Goliath with one stone from his sling, this Maryland nurse single-handedly defeated the IRS.

And according to the Wall Street Journal, she not only beat the IRS—she did it without a lawyer.

Miss Singleton-Clarke successfully defended herself against IRS attorneys who claimed she had wrongfully deducted $15,000 in tuition expenses while studying for her MBA.

But she used her nursing experience and MBA training to win a decision in U.S. tax court. It should now make it easier to deduct graduate tuition expenses for all.

Few individuals bother to fight the IRS, because the expense of hiring a lawyer just isn’t worth it.

So how did one woman pull off the impossible?

  1. After studying the facts, Miss Singleton-Clarke felt that her online MBA tuition met the criteria for a work-related expense. It wasn’t a frivolous claim.

  2. As a nurse and MBA student, she learned meticulous record-keeping skills and was prepared for every question asked by the tax court judge.

  3. She was fearless. Firmly believing in the merit of her case, she didn’t let a team of IRS attorneys intimidate her.

Ms. Singleton-Clarke's story is an inspiration to all of us. We shouldn’t let fear prevent us from doing what’s right.

By holding to our faith that God is with us and that He will provide, we can escape the fear of living in man’s economy, and know the peace that comes from living in His economy, even when facing giant challenges.

7-Step Solution to the Economic Crisis

It is time we stop looking to the federal government and mobilize the grassroots of this nation to bring about the economic change that is desperately needed.

Is Welfare Scriptural?

Welfare was transferred from the church because the church neglected it. It can be recovered, and the church can become a leader in caring for the needy.

Morality and Economics

The decline in moral standards and values not only affects our spiritual and emotional welfare, but it directly influences our value system.

Federal Reserve System

Although the Federal Reserve may not always operate in the best interest of the nation, it’s regulatory use is presently the law of the land.
