Are you getting along with your boss?

With unemployment holding steady at 10%, staying on your boss’s good side, well, it makes good sense.

Now, I’m not talking about idle flattery, but instead looking for ways to make the boss’s job easier. So today, we’ve got 3 great ways to please your boss, and this is from SmartMoney.com:

  1. Burn the midnight oil.  If you can’t find ways to boost your productivity during normal business hours, don’t shy away from putting in a few extra hours here and there to bring an important project in ahead of deadline.

  2. Walk a mile in your boss’s shoes. If you’re worried about losing your job, chances are your boss is, too. If you notice the boss stressing out over a project or deadline, step up and ask what you can do to help, even if the work is outside your normal duties.

  3. Get ahead of the curve. A Harvard Business Review study showed that most supervisors subconsciously divide workers into an in-group and an out-group. Once you’re in the out-group, the boss takes little notice of your accomplishments.

So, if you think you’re in the out-group, schedule a meeting with your boss to go over any areas of your job where you’re deficient, and present a plan for improvement. Your boss will be impressed.

At My MoneyLife, we want to help you find your god-given skills so that you can do excellent work that brings Him glory. Learn more about our career assessment tool called Career Direct to discover your own gifts. You can learn more at Crown.org.

Choosing the Right Vocation

In choosing a vocation, Christians must weigh their priorities very carefully. When people are out of God’s priorities, they are out of His will.

Job Loss

Dealing with lay off is not pleasant, but look at the lay off as an opportunity that can be conquered.

Making Career Decisions

Most Americans need to unlearn the errors and then learn the truth regarding career decisions.

Work as Unto the Lord

Being God’s emissary on the job is not difficult; it’s impossible. Only by yielding our rights to Him can the world get a glimpse of Him through us.
