Keith Tracy: A Changed Life
(Originally aired 10/1/09)
Keith shares where he was in his life and his attitudes about money before engaging with Crown in 2002. He was a practicing attorney and his wife was an occupational therapist. The couple had no children, were saving for a house, saving for retirement, investing, and growing their nest egg. Keith was on track to be a partner in a law firm. They were enjoying their lifestyle. Keith's brother-in-law convinced him to take the Crown small group study at their church in 2003. Keith immediately began to understand God’s ownership and provision and our role as stewards. He came into some unexpected money during the class that gave him the opportunity to apply what he was learning. He made a commitment to become debt-free and did so before the end of that year. Keith says he felt God leading him to move towards working part-time. He didn’t know how his employer would react to that request, but he made the proposal and it was received favorably. Things went well until the law firm dissolved six months later. In looking for a new job, he found one that also was part-time in a better work environment than before. Keith says working fewer hours gave him more time to spend with God and his family, and to give more of his time to God's Kingdom. Keith’s testimony is that God is real, not a financial principle. Financial principles reveal things about God and ourselves, and teach us what’s best for us. Behind the truths is the living God.

Setting Dreams in MotionWhen it becomes clear that God is redirecting our efforts, what can we do so our natural determination does not become a liability? |
My God Shall ProvideWe must realize that the Lord is our provider; our jobs are only instruments of His provision. |
|
Bottom Line DiscipleshipYou can’t serve the Savior and all that stuff on an equal footing. One has to take precedence. |
Qualities of a Generous GiverThe scriptural guideline for borrowing is very clear. When you borrow, you promise to repay. Literally, God requires that we repay. |
