Doug Spada: Finding Congruency Between Work and Calling
As believers, we would like everyone to be doing the work God made them to do. Jesus made many public appearances in the marketplace. Many of the parables Jesus taught are about work. He called his disciples out of the workplace. Christ should be totally integrated into our lives, so that He goes wherever we go.
Doug shares his background, how God taught him ownership and stewardship. He relates how God led him to start His Church at Work. Doug and Chuck discuss why Christians struggle to align their work with what God has called them to do--confusion, churches haven’t helped them see work as a mission field or equipped them to minister in it. Work is worship unto God. We should work with excellence to earn the opportunity to share Christ with others. That doesn't mean forcing ourselves on others, but rather loving them. We should pray for and in the workplace. Chuck and Doug continue their discussion in the third segment. They focus on things to avoid in the workplace related to sharing your faith:
Many Christians think that pastors alone are called to serve the Lord. Doug shares that the mission of His Church at Work is to grow the cultural influence of the church through the work lives of believers. We can do that by raising awareness and educating Christians about the mission field of the workplace. We can work with local churches to equip believers. Doug says God wants local churches to be in the marketplace and anyone can become a catalyst in his or her church. Chuck gives his closing thoughts in the fourth segment:

Developing a Marketplace Mission MentalityTo fulfill the notion of becoming a marketplace missionary, it is important for us to study the culture of the group. |
Faithfulness In Our CallingPray that God will keep you faithful to the purposes He has for your life. He strengthens those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. |
|
Living for a Greater CauseWhat does it mean for businesspeople to live for a cause greater than themselves in our day and time. |
The Fallacy of Full-Time Christian WorkWe are all in missions. Some are called to foreign lands. Some are called to the jungles of the marketplace. |
