Husband doesn't want to tithe

Concerning your question about tithing when your husband doesn't want to tithe, the ministry believes that you need to submit to your husband's wishes, trusting that your submissive attitude may draw him closer to the Lord (see 1 Peter 3:1-6). Remember that the Lord's concern is not the money; it is the attitudes of our hearts. If you have made the commitment to give and your husband does not want to give, God sees the desire of your heart to tithe and He will honor that commitment even though you adhere to your husband's wishes and do not tithe.

We know that you may be frustrated with your situation, but we encourage you to continue to pray for your husband. Only the Holy Spirit of God can bring good changes in human hearts. Your Heavenly Father cares about what you're going through. He cares about your attitude and motives as well. He won't ask you to do something impossible but will provide a way for you to do His will if you trust in His power to accomplish what He desires for your marriage.

We trust that you will find encouragement and strength in these promises from God's Word: “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him” (Psalm 37:7), and “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13).

Here is a suggestion for your situation. You may want to ask your husband to allow you to give a smaller amount for at least one year. If, at the end of the year, you are worse off financially as a result of your giving, you will agree to stop tithing on his income. But if you are better off, then he may agree to give more.

In Malachi 3:10, the Lord says to test Him in this thing (tithing). Often this is just the opportunity for God to prove Himself to a doubting spouse.
