JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Legal Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION : Exempt
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
JOB SUMMARY :
Prepare, review, and maintain records for a variety of ministry legal documents, perform legal research, prepare related reports and correspondence, and act as liaison with the Board of Directors and corporate attorneys.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain current business registrations in all states and District of Columbia.
- Maintain charitable registration in all 51 jurisdictions.
- Review all contracts/agreements and maintain related records.
- Maintain and update corporate insurance policies and files. Complete annual paperwork for yearly quote. Act as liaison between Crown and our corporate insurance agent.
- Maintain corporate permanent records for Crown as well as Crown-related companies.
- Maintain publishing agreements. Communicate with publishing agents to establish new publishing agreements. Develop a calendar and follow publishing royalties throughout the year.
- Maintain trademark files. Begin files for new trademarks and keep track of subsequent filings to the Patent & Trademark Office on existing trademarks.
- Perform periodic Web searches looking for possible trademark violations.
- Perform legal research as necessary.
- Work with global expansion group to assist in establishing Crown international offices.
- Handle a variety of ministry-related registrations, corproate policies, and permanent record-keeping.
- Establish yearly calendar for company-wide reminders of corporate policies.
- Serve as liaison to the Board of Directors. Prepare necessary documentation for each Board meeting. Prepare Board meeting minutes and maintain corporate notebook on minutes. Follow-up with Board members for signatures on required documents.
- Work in cooperation with multiple departments regarding legal issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Paralegal experience, especially in the area of intellectual property
- Administrative experience
- Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
- Must show discretion, reliability, and confidentiality
- Ability to perform legal research
- Mature relationship with Jesus Christ
ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and resourceful
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently as well as effectively with others
- Proficient in computer skills and operation of related office equipment
