Inspiring stories of Financial Freedom

Our finances are in much better order now. I have no credit card, I am paying off my debts using the snowball method, and I find ways to find money to accelerate the debt pay off. Most of all I now know what to do with the 90% God has blessed us with, HIS way. Crown Financial Ministries did not only shape my finances or the way I view material possessions but my whole being, integrity, stewardship, generosity, and mercy. I tell everyone about it. I pray that everyone will join this and really know how loving and rich our God is.

My husband and I went through the Crown study in 2007. We started implementing the principles right away. We became faithful tithers, and God increased my husband's commission checks almost every month. One month our tithe was equal to what we paid in rent at that time.
Within 6 months of completing the Crown study, my husband lost his job, and we had to move on short notice. Because we had followed Biblical principles, we were able to survive the crisis. We had enough emergency money to cover our moving expenses and our living expenses for 3 months, even though my husband was out of work. He found a job quickly, and I was given a raise at work.
Fast forward to 2009: we have a baby now, my husband has been unemployed for almost 1 year, and I'm on disability. Thankfully through it all we have the peace of God that surpasses understanding. God is faithful to provide. Thank you, Crown Ministries, for teaching us the fundamentals!

This course helped me to focus more on God's plan for managing finances, as opposed to my own hit and miss tactics for getting my finances under control. It helped me to put a written plan in place to express my dreams for a financial future that I couldn't seem to express in an adequate fashion to my husband, "to write the vision and make it plain."

I went to a Crown Financial Ministries seminar in February at my church. Great program. I've got the Crown Money Map posted on my wall and am on the second step so far. I review my workbook about once a week. I've been paying off my lowest balances first and adding this amount to the next as I go. I have a budget that I update whenever I spend money. It takes a lot of patience but its working!
Also I am tithing regularly. That's been a huge blessing. I've always had a very hard time getting myself to tithe but it is worth it.
Thanks for your help!

When my husband and I were married in 2006, we realized individually we had made a mess of our finances and together we faced a mountain of combined debt. We had over $21,000 in credit card debt, two car loans, a student loan, and now a home mortgage.
A couple in our church introduced us to Crown and helped us get started on a budget. We figured with what we were able to put towards debt, we could pay off our credit card debt in five years. God's math ended up working better than ours. In just two years, we had paid off all of our credit card debt, the student loan, and one of the car loans.
Today we are able to live on one income, and I am able to stay at home with our daughter, born in January of 2009. I will forever thank God for His faithfulness and how He used Crown to guide us in becoming better stewards of what He has blessed us with. Every day I wake up and see my beautiful baby girl and know I wouldn't be home caring for her if my husband and I had not made those changes when we did!

I'm so excited about Crown! I practically have Psalm 39:4 ingrained in my heart, and it's helped me tremendously. I'm just so thankful that God has answered my prayer so soon.
I have been struggling with an attitude of covetousness and discontentment with my life because of my profession (realtor). Each time I come home from showing a home, I have this feeling of dissatisfaction because I find fault with my current home. I've been praying for God to find me something different to do or change my attitude, and lo and behold, he changed me from within!
If I only have 14,597 days left to live (God willing), then a gourmet kitchen or high ceilings doesn't help my goal of leaving a legacy of the richness of Christ for my children. So now when I am tempted by material things, I just repeat Psalm 39:4 to myself, and I am reminded of all the work I must do for Christ before I die: "Show me, O Lord, my life's end and the number of my days and how fleeting is my life."
Some might encourage me to just buy a newer home since I'm in real estate, but I sense God wants to work a spirit of humility and contentment in me with my current home, and I'm happy to oblige. Besides if we were to buy a new home, someone will come up with something new that my home does not have, and then I will quickly return to my old state of discontentment. Therefore, it's much wiser to change my attitude than my circumstance!
Praise God for He has granted me the desires of my heart through Psalm 39:4 - contentment with what I have for I have all that I need to achieve what He wants from me!!

I am 32 years old, and I have been blessed by your show for many years, first starting with Money Matters. I used to listen to the show on the radio as I drove a long distance to visit my girlfriend, who is now my wonderful wife.
Your wisdom has been vital in my financial and spiritual life for many years. My wife and I live our life believing that our money is God's Money. We are stewards, and we hold it loosely. We desire to be generous with His money and faithful to manage it for His Glory. Your show and wisdom help me, and many of my friends do this!
